It was a trip to the islands on a great adventure last week with the premiere of Moana!
On Saturday, November 5th, Disney hosted the wrap party for the newest Disney princess movie, Moana. The story follows an adventurous teenager that sails out on a daring mission to save the people of her village. During her expedition, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod, Maui, who guides her in her quest. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage.
THE FIRM, formerly known as Samantha Sackler Productions, created a fun and vibrant celebration for this event. The Pasadena Convention Center served as the perfect location for the screening of the film and the wrap party for 2000.
When the movie concluded, patrons were lead to the ballroom by Polynesian dancers down a walkway flanked by palm trees and greenery. Guests were astonished when they arrived and saw the entrance doors appeared to be a painted picture of a Polynesian beach scene. The look was achieved through perforated window clings spanning 35’ wide x 15’ high. Walking into the doors of the convention center, there was a 15’ wide by 9’ high back drop of an island scene from the film with live plants and greenery to bring the scene to life. THE FIRM team used live florals, such as gardenias and plumerias, to stimulate the scent of an island experience.
Lined with even more greenery and palms, guests made their way down the corridor to the ballroom. As they stepped foot into the space, they were welcomed with a 130’ wide by 30’ high definition projection wall, 20’ live queen palm trees and lighting designed to enhance the feeling of being surrounded by water. Set in the center of the room was a 16’ x 20’ Lloyd bar by Designer8* that surrounded a back drop of custom water walls, dressed with Polynesian tribal patters, live florals and decals of fish characters from the film. Because of the 30’ high ceilings, THE FIRM also created four 8’ high x 5’ wide custom spirals suspended from the ceiling.
Featuring many collections from Designer8* furniture rental company, THE FIRM created lounge seating for the guests to enjoy. The left side of the ballroom featured the Barbados Collection with the Solei coffee table for the vignettes to create an island feel. Yellow and Tangerine pillows were used as a pop of color. Continuing the island theme, THE FIRM team added in the Eco Natural Communal table with Axel gunmetal barstools to create more eating space for guests. The opposite side of the ballroom was themed after the ocean, a primary setting of the movie. The Sebastian collection with the Leonardo Coffee table was featured and paired with the Parsons Communal table and Blue Axel barstools. Designer8*’s bamboo partitions were also used to section off part of the corridor which featured interactive photo booths provided by Disney.
Throughout the evening, the HD projection wall faded from a sunny day on Motunui island, to the sun setting, to enjoying the evening under the starry skies. THE FIRM had two spinning Moana “hearts” on that dance floor. Once the party picked up, guests entered the “Monster Vortex”, via the HD projection wall, that spun all night creating a lively feel. Enjoying Polynesian cuisine provided by the Pasadena Convention Center and the great atmosphere, THE FIRM produced an amazing event for all guests.
