Magic Mike XXL
On June 25th, Warner Bros. premiered their highly talked about sequel, Magic Mike XXL. Three years after Mike (Channing Tatum) bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, he and the remaining Kings of Tampa (including Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello) hit the road to Myrtle Beach to put on one last blow-out performance.
THE FIRM, formerly known as Samantha Sackler Productions, wanted to create a sexy club like party to fully encompass the elements of the movie. The team transformed the El Capitan Parking Lot in just two days to create this vision. We decided to enclose the party with hard walls covered in a beautiful purple fabric. Designer 8*’s Black Landon collection in combination with the Black Jax collection created masculine seating vignettes for the stars. Designer 8* also provided their gorgeous new Karina coffee tables and Prince buffet tables. We were lucky enough to be able to use some of the key prop pieces from the film including the Wiggle Walls, Mirror Frame and Mad Mary’s neon sign. The sign was used to create a club like entrance while the Mirror Frame was used a central focal point behind a custom designed disco bar. From the frame the team hung disco balls in a variety of sizes. These disco balls were also used as buffet and satellite bar centerpieces set on top of a glass cylinder filled with purple Vanda Orchids and Sweet Peas. Lighting in mostly reds and purples transformed the space into the club like atmosphere we were trying to create. As a great surprise for all guests we showcased two male dance performances. The stage backdrop included the Wiggle Walls and fun Silver Mylar Tinsel that drew the crowds eye to the stage. The dancers were backups in the film and certainly put on a show for all!
